Day 329 (or Day 1,644 if one should count the day last Feb. 15 when, with cold sodden feet, we turned around before having reached the summit of our hilltop, as my son insists I should do.)
Millie was silly and cut all kinds of capers in the snow.
As though she had never seen snow before.
Surely there's something hiding underneath.
It was definitely a monochrome kind of day. There seemed to be only two colors ~ black and white~ if those really are colors at all.
The farther we walked the harder the snow fell. The Cannon I had brought along was getting wetter with each step.
Even the water had no color today.
The snow was not as deep near the pond. Wasn't it somewhere back in Junior High that we learned about bodies of water and their effects on climate?
The snow was flying when we walked the meadow trails. I was wearing two pairs of wool socks, and it was here that the outer pair decided to eat up the inner pair. I limped on. I wondered if Millie's feet were getting cold.
Of course, the old cow puncher was putting out hay for the cattle. To see them following after the tractor always makes me think of "The Pied Piper." I wonder if kids today even know that old tale.
The cattle had trampled the snow here on this part of the trail, having taken refuge from the snow in the woods.
Dot paused just long enough for a picture before going on to the hay.

What glorious photos you capture! Surely you have the artist's eye. My favorites are of the fence, the pond and Miss Dot. Well, and, of course, Silly Miss Millie. I had to laugh reading about your one pair of socks eating the other. I know that issue well and winced even as I read it. Makes for a long trek back. You certainly get some beautiful snows when you get them. ~Robin~
I do like the picture of the snowy fence. If I was an artist I'd paint winter pictures and use only shades of gray and black.
Doesn't snow bring out the crazies in dogs? It's hilarious to watch them.
Beautiful pictures! and a very pretty walk. We are going to get snow Monday. While we need it is a lot of work.

Oh what a wonderful winter walk! I remember those days well. Your pictures are WONDERFUL and I love them all. Your reference to the Pied Piper applies to many humans today as well.
Brrrrr - beautiful photos but it does look cold! I think my favourite photo is the one of the 'Shanty' - it's worthy of being a picture postcard I think.
Love seeing your photos of the snowy walk. We'll be seeing wintry weather tomorrow as the nor'easter heading this way has us directly in its sights. So far there has been very little snow around here.
Beautiful snowy pictures. It looks like that here today looking out my window. Only 8 degrees though and VERY windy. Maybe I'll be out walking in it tomorrow. :)
Great photos and commentary. What a peaceful walk. Wish I could have accompanied you
I think Millie has a winter spirit in her soul, she loves it so.
Beautiful Mary...all of them. The pond & the nestled cabin are my favorites.
I love the picture of Dot. That one could be in a gallery. All are lovely though, and we surely get the idea of lots of snow! We have it too. Hoping our power stays on. Just had a nice time shoveling-I really like doing it. Sam did NOT want to go out this morning. She is having fun now in her pen getting bits of grass that I uncovered for her. Stay warm and safe my friend!
Oh, my! I have so enjoyed these photos. They are just glorious!
I LOVE your blog header image. And your snow photos are beautiful. I never seem to get outside when it's snowing, to get photos like this. That pond scene reminds me of a walking area and pond that is in my area.
wow such a beautiful place covered with snow!Like your blog!
The photo of your porch looks like a Christmas card! My goodness you got a lot of snow. I loved seeing Millie having fun in the snow. Stay warm!
You have some really beautiful photos of the snow. Looks like you had a big snow.
Oh, that's nice... real winter :-))) Last year I was able to ski every day for 4 weeks... I'm waiting for a little more snow here.
Thanks for the beautiful pictures.
Hug
Happy Valentine's Day!
