There are lots of zinnias blooming now, and in so many wonderful colors. The ones, not quite open yet, are such a joy, all fresh and new.
We are not hearing the summer tanager today which makes me wonder if he is helping more now to feed the young ones. Or, perhaps, it is just too hot today to sing pretty songs.
I am sure O'Keeffe would enjoy the poppies that are beginning to bloom, even though she would probably enjoy them more in red. I, however, am loving them in pink.
With the windows and door opened wide, the Shanty does provide some relief from the sun's blistering rays. There's seating enough inside for five, so we sometimes have our young friends from across the pasture come for tea. They wouldn't mind drinking from cups that are well over a hundred years old, but I discourage that and bring out some newer ones for the parties. Millie drinks from a dish.

The ducks, loons, or terns, or whatever they are, delight me to no end. The old, waxed canvas from which they are made is quite wonderful. They have definitely helped define this garden shed for what it is. I love them so much, and especially the old canvas cloth from which they are made.
Last year's zinnias and other favorite flowers still add splashes of color about the Shanty. The red salvia, I think, is more beautiful dried than it was fresh, and the dried zinnias are still quite lovely. I suppose I could replace them with fresh cut ones from the garden, but I'll not be taking those away from the bees and butterflies.

Good evening, what a lovely sitting area you have created in your garden shed, so inviting. Would be wonderful for reading a book, or a little craft project. Perfect for tea with friends.
I planted lots of seeds, but most of them had gotten washed away from a heavy storm we had, so I only have a handful coming up-I love zinnias as they bring in the butterfies.

I'm intrigued by your ducks/loons made of waxed canvas. I've never heard of such and I wonder where in the world you found them.
Your zinnias are doing so well. I had a nice patch growing but some bug ate most of them. I've dusted them with Rotenone. It remains to be seen if they'll recoup.

I definitely will order some of those shaggy zinnia and crepe poppies for next year! The shanty is a wonderful place! My collection of ducks is not the canvas kind but I love them too!

What a beautiful and fun little getaway you've created. Like Granny Marigold, I, too, am intrigued by the canvas ducks. I've never encountered them either...but they are wonderful. Beautiful posies too, but my favorite are those poppies. I especially love the pink. I had red ones for a time, but they just were not happy here and gave up after a couple of years. Stay cool... The ducks are exquisite in their own special way, created in love no doubt. We were surprised to see the pink/purple poppies that bloomed sparsely last year scattered their seeds far and wide and there are in abundance this year. They only bloom for a day sadly, so delicate and pretty though. Your garden shed is the envy of those of us who have no such rustic luxury, thank you for sharing yours with all of us.

When I did a lot of gardening, I always noticed zinnias thrived in heat. Your images are stellar!!

I don't think I've ever seen canvas decoys before - very cool! And I must admit to a great deal of green-eyed envy over that She-Shed.
The zinnias made me think of my mother who would plant rows of them in the vegetable garden much to the chagrin of my dad who thought gardens should be for vegetables.
