While we slept...

While we slept, a little winter snow storm passed over the hill.  We weren't expecting it,
so it was a pleasant surprise, for sure!  I wish it could have stayed just a bit longer...
well, not too much longer, but it would have been such a delightful thing to see snow falling.

It was a cold walk today, though, so my warmest coat felt mighty good.  I have
had a bit of a sniffle and cough, so I have been trying to take care of myself, but at the same time,
I want so badly to make it to that Thousandth Day Walk.  For the past two days, we
have walked the woodland trails, avoiding the open fields where the wind always
seems to be blowing.  Today was walk #942.

Now, we are all set to watch an old Hopalong Cassidy movie.  At the same time, I
will be doing some hand sewing on the last pair of legs for the five dolls.  They all have
their names now, which has been great fun.  Looking back at the picture in the previous
post, from left to right, they are as follows:  #1: Jubilee Ione Cliff, #2:  Jillie
Anice Cooper, #3:  Briony Rose Gunderson, #4:  Linnie Estelle Butts, and #5:
 Riata Laverne Millwright.

Take care, and thanks for stopping by!
Mary

I love when the snow sticks to the trees. A lovely sight! Janice

Beautiful! Hopefully, it will stay that way and not become a nuisance.

We don't always get snow down here. Only a few wonderful, magical times every second or third year. And snow rarely sticks around for more than a few short days. We get plenty of ice, though, which is pretty on the trees too, but so dangerous that we dread getting any of it. Your photos are beautiful, as always. I hope you are feeling much better by now. My entire family has had the flu, including me. We are all feeling better but not quite over it. Oh, and your doll names are fabulous! :o)

A wonderland! What a beautiful, if frigid, walk this must have been. I can imagine your delighted surprise since you weren't expecting the snow.

We're having a snowy day and icy too so I walked inside.
That is a lot of walks in a row. How far do you walk each day?

Like Sandra I'm curious how you pick names for your dolls. I used to know all my Teddy Bears' names but I've added so many that I can't keep track any longer.
I love watching snow fall too. In fact, when it does I get nothing done. I take mt tea of coffee over to the window and just sit and watch it fall.
I hope all remnants of your cold will soon disappear!

A winter wonderland right outside your front door. The beauty you must behold as you walk through your landscape. Love all the names of your sweet dolls. I too am curious as to how you imagined the names. Gosh, I think I would have to don an Eskimo's garb to walk through your beautiful world.

Thank you all for your comments. I love them, of course! Some of you wondered how I came up with the names for the dolls. Well, I kind of collect names and when I hear one I like I write it in a notebook where I record important stuff! The latest name I added was Ann Harriet Gunderson. She was Robert Mitchum's mother. Isn't that such a lovely name? She was a Norwegian immigrant. To have had such a handsome son, she must have been a real beauty! I really wanted to name one of the dolls that exact name, but decided maybe I shouldn't.

How I adore those chosen names! And the frosty, snowy scenes are pretty from my warm, dry, chair. Feel better soon!

I don't know which I love more--that beautiful place with such a dusting of snow, or your Doll Names!

The chosen names for your little dolls are very special and I love them! My mother's was Pauline Folkner Drake. I think it is special too.

Lucky you! We got a dusting but not as much as you! What beautiful photos and you have beautiful views from your place. You go girl with your 1,000 walks. I have counted mine but it's only been 2 or 3 weeks. When my girls (dogs) were alive I walked every day and we would go 3-4miles but now I am out of shape and I go around the block and I don't know how far that is. I was out of breath the first week because there's a steep incline but now I'm fine. It only takes me about 10 minutes and I think I used to walk about 45. Are the names of your dolls from real people? It sounds like it...lovely names!

We didn't get that much snow; just more or less a dusting here, but on the hills north of us the trees had more. I always wish it would snow during the daytime so I could watch it fall.
