Sage and Me...

It has been a rainy day here; perfect for putting up the Christmas tree.  But did I do that?  No.  I did what I like doing best on a day like this ~ cleaning and moving stuff around.   Even Sage, the fellow there beside me, now has a new place to hang. He does look happy, I think.  :~)

As I have said here many times before, I love a rainy day.  This is looking toward the east through the sewing room window.  This is the only room in which there is a bit of Christmas beginning to show up. The little tree has been fluffed but there are no decorations yet. (Granny Marigold I got the idea of fluffing my tree from you!  :~)

Millie and I took our usual walk over the hilltop trail this morning before the rain began.  It was pretty much the "same old bench, same old squirrel, same old giant bowl of spaghetti,"* until ........... There he was watching us - he, the same black coyote that, I feel sure, terrorized us on that dark night trek over the hill that I wrote about in my last post.

I fumbled for my phone to try to get a picture, but by the time I pulled off my gloves and retrieved the phone from my coat pocket, he had disappeared into the woods.  The wolves in this picture from a Google search do, in fact, look a lot like our coyote.  I loved his dark thick coat and his just being there in all his majestic wildness.  I so hope he can dodge those flying bullets for it is deer-hunting season here and many a hunter would like to bag this beauty.

I haven't done much water coloring in the journal lately, but I did finally finish the brick paver patio in the Shanty Garden.   The final touch was definitely the addition of a heavy clay chiminea that I got for my birthday earlier this month.  I can't wait for our first fire in it.

* A quote from the cartoon Oswald that I used to watch with my young grandson.

So happy you are having rain and not snow. Glad you got your walk in the morning; before all that rain fell. I so enjoyed seeing the doll in your photo today. Have you shared about her before? I hope there will be more doll clothes and dolls at your Linnie blog; I peek in there often. What a nice birthday present and you created the perfect place to enjoy it. Your patio bricks look great. Our trees are pretty bare now. We have patches of snow on the ground. We have enjoyed a wonderful week of warmer weather; but now it changes back to the cooler...cold temperatures. Christmas decorating is starting slowly this week.

Sandra, the doll in the photo is one of my oldest. I made her when I was in Dixie Redmond’s Izannah Walker doll class. I think about you often and pay attention to the weather there. I am working hard to get everything in order so I can hibernate for the six weeks after Christmas. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family.

Sage is a beauty!!
I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with a coyote (any color) following me.

Good morning, Lovely photo of you? You are still very busy-awesome job on your brick patio and a perfect spot to enjoy your gift.
It is raining here at the moment, rained off and on during last night. We have had allot of fog here too.
When I saw the photo was thinking those are wolves -haha-til you mentioned they were wolves. We had allot of coyetes around at the woods home but Nikita did a few howls and they never came close to the house. Never saw one.
I am still deciding if I want to get out my little christms tree and decorate it or not-It's a huge job to retrieve it. Enjoy your new week coming up hugs from the lake

Goodness but that is a gorgeous bull and you painted him? I'd think it quite difficult to get perspective and proportions of the body so accurate when the object is so big. A beauty for sure.
I made a couple Izannnah Walker dolls too sold some and kept one for myself. I no longer enjoy making dolls tho.

Wonderful assortment of pictures today, especially the first. I went through my assortment of ornaments and have decided to donate many. Otherwise I have still to get out another box. I hope that your gorgeous coyote survives. Hunting season is in full swing here as well and the processors are overwhelmed.

I am envious of your brick patio. I did not get the creek stone walk reworked in my wildflower garden--when the weather was agreeable it seemed that my back didn't want to cooperate in heaving stones around. Maybe next year? [Maybe not?] I am ready for that post-holiday season of hibernation--more sewing, more reading, always assisted by the resident felines.

I love that photo of you and Sage. It's a beautiful painting.
The only Christmas decoration I put up so far is a wreath on the door. My next one will be my Nativity.

Your brick patio looks so welcoming and I love that belly stove. You are braver than me. I wouldn't venture on the trail with wild coyotes around.

Stay safe and well.
Hugs, Julia

Yikes on seeing that coyote again. When I was about 15 I came about 5 feet from one. My gramma B's Samoyed Boots got between us teeth barred. I had made one step forward and grabbed his collar and noticed a rock lying on the ground, so I threw it at the coyote. Your brick work looks amazing. We had a heavy rain here all day,but I worked the store and since I had hardly any customers I hooked on my rug a bit. Janice

I like the selfie that you took and your awesome painting behind you. It looks very big. So decorating has begun. It's nice to take it slow and easy, adding things here and there until you decide that it's enough.
That coyote would make me uneasy but at least you were seeing him in broad daylight.
The chiminea looks great on your brick patio and will be a fun place to sit and enjoy a fire.
Have a lovely week!!

That's a beauty of a stove. And thank you for sharing your painting, and the beautiful human form that is you.

Are you sure your coyote isn't actually a coy-wolf? The colouring makes me wonder. If so, beware, because they are very aggressive and think nothing of attacking dogs and people. You'd better take to carrying a very large stick and a powerful whistle. Don't want to scare you, but they are a problem around here.
Lovely to see a picture of you!!!

I loved seeing lovely You! The painting is amazing. Your brick work is incredible! I know I would be very afraid of those coyotes-we have them here too, and they come in our yard a lot. Millie is a good protector-I'm sure she would scare away any one who tried to hurt you.

Oh no. That is scary!
