And, to think, there was a time when I wanted no pink in my gardens! Now, I can't seem to have enough! I am really going to miss these beautiful foxgloves when they are gone, and I am sure the bees will too.
The hummingbird garden is delighting me, as well as the little hummers that visit it every day. Bee Balm or Monarda is a favorite of mine and is just now starting to bloom. The flowers, with quilled and ruffled petals, remind me a great deal of the Burpeeana Zinnia which will soon be blooming. I do hope some of them will be red...and maybe even pink!
The hummingbirds are very active now at the feeders, and seem to be happy with their new backyard accommodations. (You may remember that we moved them off the front porch because they were driving the husband crazy." He said the noise they made was deafening! Really? And, I could hardly hear them!)
We sometimes go inside the Shanty and watch the little birds through the window. They can put on quite a show, you know.
We haven't done anything more inside the Shanty. I am resisting doing anything more until we put panels on the walls. Maybe when the hummingbirds leave this fall, we can throw open the door and go to work.
Take care, and thanks for stopping by!
Mary

The foxgloves are gorgeous, as is the bee balm. And the hummers should certainly be happy with their new station. :)
Beautiful photographs Mary!
Those Hummingbirds are visiting your feeders and humming their way around the garden. I finally took my feeder down because the one or two that came to the back yard preferred the flowers and I had to dump out the sugar water in the feeder every couple of days and put new syrup in just to have them ignore it again.
Foxgloves ~ one of my very favorites! I've had a few but nothing in comparison in size to yours. I have a foxglove nursery of little ones to plant out later. What is the red flower behind the foxgloves? Gosh, the shanty looks completely furnished! I'm turning green...
Oh, a garden needs oodles of pink, happy flowers blooming...but that's just me. Foxgloves always bring a sense of magic and many smiles to a garden. Your garden is looking so pretty and as for the Shanty.....how lovely it is. You have some beautiful furniture pieces in there to enjoy. I can well imagine the hummingbirds wake up every morning and make your pretty garden their first destination for the day.
Now wait...you are planning on replacing that beautiful paneling that is there? Or is that last photo a "what is planned"? Love the flowers & hummingbirds!! I used to be the same with white winged doves and their constant chortling (very different call than mourning doves)...now, I enjoy them.
OOoohhh, I so love your flowers! Love them all. For some reason I do not have any luck with foxglove. Love that Bee Balm especially.
I would like to have a place to have that shanty too!
Hummers are fun to watch. I've not seen as many this year, but it's only our second spring at this place and it's been chilly still.
Foxgloves wouldn't grow in our garden but I do love them. We had lots of bee balm which thrilled the bees no end. Must admit to just a teeny tiny little amount of envy over that Shanty!
Foxgloves are such a favorite of mine. Soooo pretty. I like the pink.
Happy gardening.
Oh the flowers are gorgeous. I love both foxglove and the bee balm.
You have lots of hummingbird visitors. What a treat to watch.
The hummers here in Michigan love bee balm. Your foxgloves are so pretty too! Janice
Your flowers are simply beautiful this year. Those foxgloves are amazing. We've had several hummingbirds this season; enough to empty two feeders every day. But yesterday 25 or 30 honey bees settled on one of the feeders. We left them until dark then brought that feeder inside. I love honey bees but hope they move on to the flowers. I LOVE the shanty!
I'm kind of fond of the shanty as it is...a good couple coats of Watco oil and that's it! :~P
Your foxgloves are lovely! The hummers at your place are amazing. I've hung our feeder but I've only seen one little one every now and then. Your shanty is darling! Stay cool and well.
I have 2 feeders up and in a week I have only seen 1 hummingbird. The feeder came with food that you mixed with water. I used to make my own syrup.
I love your flowers and I too like pink now and I never have really in my life...what's up with that? Your shanty looks darling! When can I move in? I want small and cute and cozy. Enjoy your beautiful farm.
Our hummers come one at a time and empty the single feeder in about 5 days. We have never had the large numbers you have! When my kids were small they would go into the woods and fields and bring me large bouquets of Horse Mint. I think it is like wild beebalm, not sure, but it really smelled wonderful. (I could live happily in your shanty if you would furnish some heat for the cold months.) I really enjoyed all of your photos here.
Lucky you that you can get foxgloves to grow! They are beautiful and the pink is perfect! I love your little shanty! So sweet!
What beautiful pictures. We have a male hummingbird that is super loud. I always know right where he is. Your garden looks fabulous. Thank you for sharing such wonderful photos! I really enjoyed them. Good luck with the shanty. It looks like a fun project.
Oh my, we counted ourselves lucky to have a single hummingbird visit our feeder this past winter.
you do have a lot of humming birds! Your garden is wonderful it seems gardens are better than ever this year.
Cathy
Your blooms are gorgeous! I just love foxglove and bee balm. My bee balm is about to start blooming too. The hummers have really been busy here too, it is so amazing to watch them! Your shanty is full of charm and delight! Many blessings to you Mary :)
Such beautiful flowers you have and your shanty is adorable! What a fun place to retreat to! I meant to mention in one of your last gardening posts how much I love how you plant things in old pots, etc. It brings so much character and artistry to your gardens. I love old things. :o)
