June is bustin' out all over...
~Oscar Hammerstein III
Elvish singing is not a thing to miss, in June under the stars, not if you care for such things.
~J.R.R. Tolkien
And, it's a fact, June is bustin' out all over here on our hill. Just ask this big fat bumble bee.
And, if I were to start believing in elves, June would be the month to begin, don't you think? I am just about to start reading J.R. R. Tolkien's The Hobbit. That should get my mind right ~ just perfect for singing with elves in June under the stars.
I feel like I was pretty much robbed of the merry month of May, but, if the good Lord is willing, I'll not be denied the wonderful month of June...even if the Doc should say as he did last visit, "Nay, nay...too soon." Dan says he has a pair of side cutters that will take care of that old cast. :~)
I am feeling quite excited and confident that this coming week will see the end of it. My hand /arm wants out of there...maybe like a butterfly wants out of its old chrysalis to be free........... Oh to be free!
There are some things that have helped keep me going ~ things like my mom's Good Luck jar which is always beside me here at my desk. I have always been pretty good at finding four-leaf clovers, so one day I went out to look and came back with five. It seemed to be a good omen that all was going to be fine.
One of my blogging friends has sent lots of pretty cards and letters. You just should see the hand-written and hand-stamped cards and letters. The envelopes themselves are works of art!
And then, another friend sent this lucky feather. It really is.... from a very special and lucky goose. It is a real prize and fits right into my collection of important stuff. It keeps me happy!
And lastly, thanks to the Doc for giving me a purple cast. I don't think I could have endured all these days with an ugly one. Now, if I can only find a pretty purple dress in which to celebrate!
And, a special thanks to all of you who have stopped by here on the hill. I hope your brand new month is off to a great start. Take care, and as I will always say, "Watch your step. You never know what might trip you up."
Happy Trails, Dear Friends!
Mary

Just catching up so I was taken aback to read you are in a cast, hope all is well and that you will feel better soon. I am a great fan of slow mail, there is nothing nicer than getting a letter delivered by the post.
Good morning Mary, lovely post-and sorry you still need to heal more before the cast can come off.
so special-your Mom's lucky jar, Sam's feather, and pen pals--slow mail is the best.
Happy weekend and month of June hugs from the lake
I must admit to a fleeting thought that we might be long-lost sisters because I just a week ago finished reading The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings trilogy - for likely the third time. I know I've read them twice over but think maybe I might have read them more than that.
I'm so happy to hear that your cast is soon to be no more - you will be dancing a happy jig (careful now, you don't want to fall!) for sure. No doubt you will treasure your special mail because we don't often get anything now but flyers and bills. Getting a real honest-to-goodness letter is something to be celebrated.
You have chosen one of my favorite sayings..."Oh to be free" but I add "to be me!" The bumblebee on the flower sure caught my love. WE call that particular bloom horsemint, not sure it is correct. Yes, I too have a good collection of four and five leaf clovers. They have seemed to jump up at me often. I dry them. So glad you will have your wrist back to work soon. Soon you will look at the time as a bump in the road that has been squashed.
Your post has me smiling, although not about the misery of that cast! But all the rest! Looks like you made out like a bandit with your penpals and bloggie frens, good! That Good Luck jar -- I have not seen another like it!
I sure hope you get well real soon and get that cast off. I know it must be getting warm with warmer weather coming. Hopefully very soon you will be able to get outside and enjoy the beautiful flowers and pretty June.
I am so happy that your cast is coming off soon....one way or another.
June is indeed a wonderful month to sing with elves in the moonlight or just to enjoy all the flowers and the sheer greenness of everything.
You must be ready to get rid of your cast. Love your lucky jar and yes it is very nice to get slow mail besides bills.

...and June is bustin' through your words and photos! Really some incredible shots (well, the cast not so much). Wonderful gifts...I was fortunate enough to receive some beautiful handmade mail from the same friend ... right when I truly needed a smile. And feathers...ahh, they are some of my best treasures. I have not seen a jar like your mother's either....another wonderful treasure! ~Robin~
What a lovely good luck jar.
Sure hope you get that cast off.
As I am coming by late, maybe your cast is OFF - anyway, your anticipatory joy is palpable. I'm glad it is/was purple!
That jar is wonderful! You have all your treasures to look at and cheer you on! You have a good attitude, which I'm sure has been a learning experience as well...Yes, please do watch your step-no more falling !!!
Good luck with getting your cast off. I've never had a cast, but many of my students have. From what they have told me it is nothing I would enjoy. Good luck.
Dear Mary, by now you are many days closer to being rid of the cast, if it's not off already. After that comes lots of physical therapy but I'm sure you will do that with a song in your heart as long as you know that you're on the way to recovery and getting back to what you love to do.
Special friends writing special letters and sending good-luck charms, you are blessed!
I do love bergamot, called bee-balm by medieval monks, and I see that your bees are making the most of it.
