A Spring Snow Storm...

Just when I was in the perfect mood for spring, Mother Nature decided to hit us with yet another snowstorm.  And, to make matters even worse it happened right in the midst of our spring heifers' calving season.

We did get out in the side-by-side to witness the beauty of  today's storm.  Our favorite pictures for the day were those taken in the heifer pasture.  There are some great little Mommas there looking after their new babies born on this snowy day.  I especially like Number 30 who was quite intent on feeding her young one.

I was reminded by flashes of color around the birds' feeders that the hummingbirds will soon be getting into town.  We can usually expect to see a few by the last week of March.  Perhaps they might need to wait an extra week this year.

Much to Millie's chagrin, I have been grounded by a kind of overall sickness that hit me full force a couple of weeks ago.  Needless to say, the calendar page now reads zero.  I have definitely been on a blogging break, but hope to be back soon.

You do get some dandy snows, don't you?? It's too stubborn to snow here these past several days....bitter cold and wicked winds. I had to laugh a bit about the calving and the snows. My niece has a farm and every time the weather turns bitter cold, I know a lamb our kid (or several) has been or will be born. So sorry you are feeling punky... I (and I am sure Miss Millie) hope you are back on your feed soon. ~Robin~

So sorry that you're not feeling well - hope you feel better soon.
There's nothing cuter than baby calves. Too bad their momma's couldn't keep them where it's warm and comfortable and not thrust them into the cold snowy weather.

Hope you will soon feel well. These are lovely pictures, if we had that much snow where I live the whole country would come to a grinding halt - transport, deliveries, commuting! I think even your livestock are made of stronger stuff - I doubt the breeds of cattle we have would be out in all weathers!

As I sit here looking out my windows I'm seeing a complete whiteout of snow and now am thinking of you and your current life. Whatever it is that got hold of your good health needs to dissipate and let you go back to walking and taking more pictures. The mama cow sure is doing her job very well and bearing up as nature's weather is besides the point for her and the babies. Good to see you again!

I am so sorry to hear you are not feeling well. I hope you feel normal again, soon.

How I love those sweet photos of the calf/calf and mother. It has been far too long since I have fooled with a calf.

Sorry to hear you've been sick. Hope you're up and running with Millie again real soon. What a big snow! The cows and calves are so pretty. Thank goodness for those good mommas. The Shanty looks lovely in the snow.

Oh no! You've been flattened by some miserable bug. I hope you feel better soon and get your energy back. I know you must be disappointed at having to set your tally back to zero.
I like the pics of the cows and calves in your snowy world.

Hope you're doing better and ready to resume your hiking adventures with Millie soon. Tiny calves are just so adorable! We may have the remnants of your snowstorm here today. Robins and Redwing blackbirds have arrived but we don't expect our hummingbirds until the first week of May. Something to look forward to!

Oh I hope you are feeling better. Oh no on the back to zero for walking. You were on such a roll. Little calves are the cutest. I so loved watching them on my grandparents farms. Janice

Hello

On your other blog you have that Childs Singer black machine and then in your old cabinet. I am looking for a clamp to hold it on a table top. Do you have any idea where I might find one?

many thanks
Janice
