In Search of Fall...

Oh dear, everyone seems to be having such a beautiful fall....
except us folks here on Hill Top. I have just loved seeing
all the gorgeous fall pictures on so many of the blogs I follow.

 So, this morning, after the rain stopped for awhile,
Millie and I headed out to see what we could find.
 We were in search of fall!  I jammed the little folded-up umbrella
 into one of the big pockets in my coat, hung my camera
on my shoulder, and we were off.

And, we had just the loveliest  time out exploring every nook
and cranny in those woods.  It really was a perfect time to go out looking,
 even if we hadn't found a single pretty leaf.

Millie did a lot of looking, and listening, and smelling.
She's perfect for being out in the woods with, for she doesn't bark
 and frighten off the wild critters. I like quietness in the woods.
 I usually don't talk when we are out and about.
 I also like that Millie is always out ahead of me,
 still in my sight, but not underfoot.

Can you see what Millie saw here?  She didn't run them away
 like she does sometimes.  She did give a big buck a quick chase.
 He was a beauty, but I didn't get a picture of him.

I thought the pond was lovely following last night's rain.
 The Great Blue Heron that we often see here,
was no where to be fouind today.

How about this for a beautiful fall arrangement?
Mother Nature did it.  She really is the best!

So, that's it ~ our picture show for Fall 2019.
 The colors may get better over the next several days, or they may not.
  But, Millie and I found what we had come for.
My picture files are full of lots better from previous years,
 but  this is the way it is today, and we are thankful
 for another beautiful fall.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Around me the trees
stir in their leaves
and call out, "Stay awhile."
The light flows from their branches.
And they call again, "It's
simple," they say,
"and you too have come into the world to do this,
to go easy, to be filled
with light, and to shine."
I love your Fall pictures. I would have missed the deer if you hadn't mentioned it.
Millie seems like the most wonderful companion you could ask for.
Great Autumn pics. Our Autumn was late here in Michigan and now that it has arrived it has been raining every day and now suppose to snow tomorrow night. Millie is a great dog! Janice
Oh, my, these make me want to get out and ramble so bad. And to hear the quietness and smell the earth. I so love your pond shot...but also love the one with the deer and the one with Millie out ahead of you.
I see fall in your photos, just arriving and giving you a glimpse of the coming glory. Around here most of the leaves have been raked up, played in (by dog and humans!), raked again and given their next job of mulching some of the tender plants and covering the gardens, to be tilled into the soil next spring. And the dreaded 'mixed precipitation' is in the forecast for weekend.
That picture of the pond is mesmerizing! I could sit and watch it for hours.
You and Millie might not have found a single pretty leaf but your photos of the tapestry of the trees are glorious. Love the pond's reflection mirroring the beauty above. Mother Nature always gets it right, doesn't she.
It seems, this morning, that winter is trying to push autumn aside. The cold, brisk winds tells us it's time to pull the scarves tight under our chins and button up the jackets.
A nice ramble through the woods and pastures even if the hoped for color isn't as much as previous years. We never have a foliage season like some areas do, but this year is even worse if one is looking for color. Nevertheless, a country walk with crisp weather, enjoying all that the woods have to offer has made you and Milly happy--and tomorrow may be even better. :)
I love seeing your walks with Millie. I also see you have found autumn approaching. After our rain we seem to have a lot of color when I really thought there would be none this year. Here's hoping the same for you! Love seeing the buck in your pretty photo!
The pond photo is perfect! Everything looks so peaceful. Let me tell you that I would take green and brown over the white we have. Thank you for sharing.
I loved this post. That's about how our color looks now. Not terribly spectacular, but enough to know it's autumn. Next will be bare trees. What a good dog Millie is! I'd be happy with a quiet companion too.
thank you for stopping over my place and leaving a comment. This bread is "like sourdough" in it's consitancy, but it isn't made with a starter persay. It's flour,yeast,salt and water. It get's it consistancy from proofing overnight to give that sourdough taste and crispy crunch crust, and holy texture. So easy.
Those pictures would have made me very sad, if I had stayed indoors today -- I'm glad I only saw them after I puttered around in the garden doing fallish things. The colors are, as everyone says, just wonderful!! The best expression of what we love about the season. Thank you!
Love your fall pictures. Love that Millie goes with you, too! Color is about the same here in New England. Leaves are still falling.
