Pretties along a freshly mown trail, and more journal pages...

Now 151 walks

Butterfly Weed

Passion Flower

I loved Hannah Hauxwell's story so much ~ imagine that she showed up here in watercolor.  I have a long waiting list for those who want to be here.  :~)  Ha Ha!

Hannah's book is one that  I am keeping on my shelves ~ Hannah Hauxwell with Barry Cockcroft.  Also included in my copy are Seasons of My Life and Daughter of the Dales.

"It's my favorite place, here...down the new road through the iron gate.  I stand here and watch the seasons come and go.  At night the moonlight plays on Hunder Beck...and the waters sing a song to me...

I know this place will always be loyal to me.  If I have nothing in my pocket I will always have this.  They cannot take it away from me.  It's mine, mine for the taking, and always will be...even when I'm no longer here.  Of course, I suppose I shall have to leave here...sooner rather than later I imagine.  It will not be an easy thing to do.

But in years to come if you see a ghost walking here you can be sure it will be me."

                                                                              ~Hannah Hauxwell

For those of you who wondered, Millie's ear does not always flop forward.  Both ears tend to be up more in colder weather, so I was surprised to see this happening already.  I  think she may be wanting a new profile picture with both ears up.  I love her ears both ways, and she doesn't seem to mind if I wear one or two side ponies.  :~)

A dog is so often the answer -

when you're lonely and need company,

or when you're tired of company and need lonely.

Ohhhh, perfection Mary. I loved the fact with my empty pocket,I will always have"this". I MUST remember that. And Millie is a doll no matter how her ears are.

I love your journal! Passion flowers grow wild where you are?
I have grand plans for a journal but never seem to get to it except for the writing.

Oh Mary, I think the eyes draw me in the most with your drawings. I've noticed it with your dolls too; when you first draw out the faces on cloth. Your journal just keeps getting better...I think you will need to continue with many more journals after this one. Millie is such a good dog and companion

Your journal drawings are an inspiration to me who now will try to draw with a real pencil. Though I am unfamiliar with Hannah Hauxwell, I think I know why you have this keeper on your shelves. The green green grass is so GREEN! Millie is a lovely dog both ears up or not! Her portrait here is frameable!

Millie is a perfect companion for your walks.

Millie is such a pretty dog. Although I don't have a dog I still love that quote.
Nice sketch of you striding forth on your walk. I like that skirt.
I've taken books about Hannah H from the library but it didn't occur to me that I could buy my own. I shall do that. I think about her from time to time, about how she lived such a solitary life after both her parents died. She seemed to take everything in her stride. Even when she had to move to town those last years.

It seems, like your journal pages, each of your posts is even better than the last. You are setting the standard incredibly high you know. What wonderfully blue skies you have! I know why you walk. Really? You have passion flowers that grow wild there? I feel blessed to find one at a greenhouse in the spring... It is a rare ocassion and has not happened in several years now but, like a unicorn, I keep looking for it. I was not familiar with Miss Hauxwell. Thank you for introducing her to me. I see I have much more research and reading to do now. From what I briefly read when I looked her up, she sounds like a remarkable spirit. I love the last quote about dogs...so very true. And Miss Millie...ah, I love her either way as well...what a beautiful dog. ~Robin~

Of course I love your drawings/paintings but must say that I love the look in Millie's eyes. You can easily see the depth of her intelligence (oh, and the ears are rather cute too!)
